Why we need sunscreen experiment!?
What you will need:
a piece of dark construction paper {black, blue, or purple}
a writing utensil
and sunscreen. (Use sunscreen that goes on clear.)
Do not use a zinc oxide sunscreen as it is too thick and you
can't see the results!
Instructions:
First Fold the constructin paper in half, then open it so that there will be a line in the middle.
Then smudge only a tiny amout of sunscreen on one side and applythe amount of sunscreen you are suppose to use on the other. Rub them well on the paper
once you have finished this, take the paper outside and leave it there in the sunlight without folding it or moving it to much. Make sure the sunscreen is facing upwards!
Leave it in the sun for about 5 - 5 1/2 hours. once you have done this take it inside. Look how the side with less sunscreen shows no proof of being protected and is darker tha the other side?!
Well the other side is more clear and cooler because that was the side you put the amount of sunscreen you should have.
the side with less sunscreen is darker because the construction paper had no way of protecting itself from the sun to tan it. While the side with more sunscreen had a a very protective layer to protect it from getting damaged from the sun.
the paper here was just like our skin. Exept rather than getting darker sometimes we get sun burnt. And using sunscreen can prevent that.
